Summer is slowly coming to an end here. It's still hot out and there are fires all over Idaho with smoke choking us out everyday, but there are other things that let me know that Fall is just around the corner. These sunflowers grow wild all over the place here. Today, while out on a drive, we stopped to cut some so I could have a pretty little bouquet of them. I sat them on my island next to some yellow squash.
Then I got stuff out to make some lemon flavored yellow squash bread and I saw the prettiest colors coming together to make a beautiful scene and I had to take pictures to share!
The aqua, white and yellow look so pretty on my island in my kitchen. And the sunflowers make it feel even more lovely.
I have been ready for summer to be over for quite awhile. The heat and I don't get along! The nights and mornings have been so cool that it makes me long for Fall even more. When I smell the freshly cut alfalfa, see onions that were being hauled from the field all over the roads and see rows of corn growing so tall, I know we are getting closer and closer to my favorite season.
These sunflowers are another sign and one that I can bring home with me as a reminder. The smell of a freshly cut mint field in the evening as the sun sets so brightly in the sky is something everyone should have the pleasure of experiencing at least once in their lives. I have been fortunate enough to experience evenings like that my whole life.
I always feel like I am rushing time by wishing for Fall to get here. But seriously, I love everything about it. Summer has its good moments, and we definitely enjoyed the BBQ's, camping and yard sales. But I am a Fall girl through and through!
One thing is for sure, I am going to be enjoying all that these late summer days still have to offer. Maybe one more camping trip will be in store for us. Maybe I will go cut some more sunflowers after these wilt. Maybe we will have a few more BBQ's out on the patio. I will savor it and look forward to Fall all at the same time!
I also forgot to mention earlier in the month that I won 2 first place blue ribbons at our county fair. Both of the pictures that I entered won! The categories I entered were portrait photography and black & white photography. I was over the moon excited to see these blue ribbons hanging off my pictures!

Your sunflowers are just perfect. I can't wait for fall myself, the cooler weather makes us all just a little more frisky like a puppy!
Hi Trisha, you are so lucky to be able to pick such pretty sunflowers. I love your arrangement and I'm also looking forward to fall and cooler weather. TFS this at Cooking and Crafting with J & J this week!

Aww...these look SO pretty! :)
Thanks for joining Cooking and Crafting with J & J!
So beautiful! I love fall too, but hate winter so I wait for fall with mixed feelings! I am really hoping to get a few more BBQs in this year too!
I'm so in agreement with you in being over summer and ready for Fall. However, living in Texas, the heat goes on for quite awhile.
Your kitchen island vignette is just so charming with the happy colors and cozy decor!
Such charming photos, Trisha! Congrats on those well-deserved blue ribbons!
Just found your blog via Roses of Inspiration!, love the sunflowers and yes summer is coming to an end, it's raining here in the uk today, Well done on the Blue Ribbonsxx
Oh, how pretty! Your sunflowers are just so lovely and they just make you happy looking at them. Even if it wasn't intentional, you put together a very sweet vignette.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
I love the beautiful picture you created on your island with the aqua/white/yellow color scheme! Such a warm and cozy picture! I'm anxiously awaiting fall as my favorite season as well! Won't be long now...
Wow your kitchen scene looks so pretty. Just like something you'd see in a magazine. - Sunflowers are such cheerful flowers.
That is wonderful that you won blue on your portraits. They are beautiful my dear!!! Way to go!!!
I feel so lucky to live in Idaho and know of all the things you put into words so beautifully. It's haying season right now in Carey, and the fresh cut alfalfa smells so good. Other than the smoke that has been hanging in the air, things are pretty good here too. You really have had a lot of hot weather there this summer. I hate going to Boise when It's so hot, so I know why you are an Autumn girl.
The photos of your sunflowers and the aqua are BEAUTIFUL Trisha!
sending hugs...
Trisha, I can't believe we haven't met before. We share so many blogging friends! Your kitchen vignette is so pretty. That aqua is one of my favourite colours. Congratulations on your ribbons for your portrait shots too. Well deserved. Following and pinned. Love, Mimi xxx

Your kitchen island looks so sweet with the sunflowers and lovely muffin tin, colander and whisk. I never tire of pretty cooking implements! I am from the Pacific Northwest and the Eastern portion of our state is having the worst fires since records have been kept. Praying for rain for us all...
Visiting from The Enchanting Rose today. Nice to meet you!

Oh and I'm so sorry about the fires. I'll say a prayer for your community.
This is my first time visiting your blog (here from Inspire Me Tuesday) & I'm so glad I popped in. Your "accidental" vignette just drew me in. Congratulations on those Blue Ribbons.....the photos are amazing. I'll have to snoop around a bit on your site while I'm here.
My thoughts and prayers go out to all of those who have had losses because of the fires. I hope Fall comes early and spreads some moisture over the parched ground.
Loved your post. Thanks for linking! Come by and link any Fall theme post now until Halloween.
Have a great Friday!
Congrats on winning the ribbons. The photos are gorgeous! I had a big patch of sunflowers come back this year and I have been cutting them and bringing them in all month long. On Monday I cut the last and gave them to a friend for a party. Now they have been pulled out. Your display is perfect. The colors are just luscious! And that bread? I would love the recipe. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
hugs,
Jann

Thanks and we hope to see you again.
Julie
Hello, I just discovered your site over from Cooking & Crafting. What a delightful site...your photos are beautiful and I just love this post. Pinned it! Have a wonderful afternoon. xo, Catherine
Hi Trisha, I am visiting from Julie's Lifestyle blog and I just love your pretty kitchen vignette. I am here in WA state and enjoying some much needed rain west of the Cascades. I hope the rain helped the fires over there. My hubby was just in Boise on business and told me about the thick smoke lingering in the air. I love your sunflowers and pretty blue muffin pan! Hope you have a lovely week. I am a fall lover, too. xo Karen
May God protect you and your community. God bless!
