Patriotic Kitchen Island

Even though we are spending the 4th of July in the mountains, I still had to bust out the patriotic decor!  I got this kitchen island at a yard sale that we had at work and I decided to put all of my red, white and blue kitchen stuff on it.
The top is decorated with lots of red, white and blue including some of the crafts I made to take with us up camping to decorate our camper.
I actually had more red, white and blue than I thought!  It was fun pulling it out and setting it on my new island.

This little silverware caddy is made out of empty tin cans that I painted in patriotic colors.  I glued all the cans on a wooden dowel, put some ribbon around all of them and then attached a felt rose to the front of each can.  It is perfect for BBQ's and camping!
This rag garland was fun to make using red, white and blue patriotic fabric that I ripped into strips and tied to a piece of twine.  It will look even better hanging in my camper.
This little wreath is made the same way as the garland, I just tied the strips around a metal hanger that is shaped in  circle.  This will hang on my camper door soon enough.
I am loving my patriotic island in the kitchen but here is my question for you--what color should I paint it?  White like everything else or a totally different color altogether?
This dresser was also obtained from the yard sale we had at work.  No one bought it so they gave it to me knowing I would repaint it and make it look better.  I had no intention of keeping it but Cody got a hold of it, painted it and decided we would use it in the living room for our entertainment center.  I love it!

We had to raise everything up a bit on the wall  but it really looks great and surprisingly takes up less room than the smaller unit we had there before.  And yes, I happened to be watching Friends when I took this picture!  It is my all-time favorite show and I could watch nothing but Friends for the rest of my life!

I hope you all have a wonderful 4th of July!  It occurred to me that I have never shared with you my vintage camper...I better remember to take some pictures this time so I can share it with you!

That's very festive island table. I'm looking for an island too because of my small kitchen.

It's all so fun and pretty. I think I like the rag garland the best. I need to make one.
