Roses in bloom

I apologize for my lack of posting lately. Life is definitely busy, but I guess that is a good thing! We spent last weekend with my husband's family at the Apple Blossom Festival in my hometown. This weekend we went camping in Sumpter, Oregon and had so much fun at the huge flea market! We came home with a few treasures that I will share soon. We spent all day working in the yard and I was greeted by these lovely roses!I had just planted 2 rose bushes at our old house and had to leave them along with my lilac bush and peonies. I've been thinking about them a lot lately, wishing I could be enjoying them in all their glory. Lucky for me I now have a rose bush with these beautiful white roses.
They have a slight peach hue in the middle and they smell divine! I cut these 3 to bring inside and enjoy. They look so wonderful in my carafe in front of this chippy white door. I purchased 2 of these doors a few years ago off of Craigslist. I got them both for $10!!
The little table that they are sitting on is a yard sale find for $3 that my father-in-law bought for me. I am hoping to get it refinished this week!
I could look at these roses against this chippy white door all day long. So pretty and perfect!
There is also a miniature rose bush with these bright pink roses in my yard. I cut a few little roses and buds to put in my bulb vases.
The sun was casting a beautiful glow in the back yard tonight, the perfect place for this quick little photo shoot of my roses.
Roses always make me happy. The way they look and smell is always a good mood booster!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend!

Sweet little hearts made out of scraps

Some people would call me a pack rat-I can't bear to throw away those little scraps of vintage sheet music that are left over after doing a project. They are just too cute and I just know I might find a use for them one day. I prefer to call myself thrifty and I am so glad I kept them because something I saw on Pinterest inspired me to make these heart tags!
I had some folders from work that were perfect for using as the backing. I cut the heart shape out and then took different small pieces of sheet music and glued them all over the heart in a very random fashion. It doesn't have to be perfect or match up...the more random the better!I then took some glitter paint and outlined the edge of the heart. This helps disguise any rough edges and it adds some sparkle to them as well!
For the roses, I took a piece of tulle about a foot and half long and 2 inches wide and started to twist it into a rose. I used a little dab of hot glue here and there to hold it in place. I then glued the rose onto the heart and added an embellishment to the center of the rose. I used pearls, vintage buttons and gems.
For these two, I printed "Je t'aime" on paper, cut it out and glued it on. I glittered the edge of that too. I think these two are my favorite!
I poked a hole in the top of the heart and put some ribbon through. These could be used as gift tags, note tags or even hung up for decoration. The total cost of these=$0...now that is my kind of project. I have a few other ideas in mind and I have a lot of scrap sheet music left so I better get to finishing them so I can show you!
I am a sucker for anything that includes vintage sheet music, roses, glitter, pearls, ribbons, French and love!

Treasures to share

Back in December, I won a wonderful giveaway from Marilyn at Cordelia's House. Look at the box full of goodies she sent me!

I just love this handmade card. I don't want to give it away because I want to keep it for myself! She has so many beautiful cards for sale in her Etsy shop.
She also sent me all of these wonderful lavender sachets. I love Paris and anything French so I can't pick just one favorite.
And that is not all! I also got this painted box filled with rag balls made with the prettiest shabby chic vintage fabric. They are proudly on display on my coffee table! They are one of a kind and they are all mine!
Marilyn is a sweet and talented lady and I think you would love her 3 Etsy stores. If you are looking for handcrafted, beautiful cards; sweet smelling lavender sachets or any other lovely vintage items, please visit her shops. I promise you won't be disappointed!

I recently participated in an altered key swap at The Altered Paper. Here is one of the altered keys that I received from one of my 2 partners, Red Apple Junction. I love what she sent me. An altered tag with a very neat looking key plus another key that I can alter myself. She also sent some fun tag cutouts, buttons and sparkles. I love it all-thank you so much! I forgot to take a picture of the keys I made-oops! When I get my other key I will be sure to share!
I have been an absentee blogger lately. It is commencement week at the college that I work for. Board meetings are taking place as well as last minute events and fundraisers. I do love to be busy so I am not complaining! I also wanted to let everyone know that I applied for a different position-Events Coordinator. I know that I am perfect for the job-my dream job-so please keep your fingers crossed that I get it!
